Pietà.The history of Il Portico is closely tied to the Sanctuary and the Miracle of the Santissima Pietà: it was established in 1989 from the renovation of the Casa del Pellegrino, which was built in the 1970s to serve the Sanctuary by hosting the many faithful visitors of the time. Several features still present today reflect its origins: the large early 18th-century paintings, recently restored, that tell the story of the Miracle; the vaulted ceilings of the dining room, once the cellars of the Sanctuary; the stained-glass windows in the lounge offering an unmatched view; the simple lines, spacious common areas, and the sound of the bells marking the rhythm of the days.
